Purpose

The Colmar Manor Bible Institute (CMBI) is designed to provide biblical training for men and women in all walks of life.  CMBI desires to glorify God by equipping men and women to better know God personally and serve Him more effectively through the study of His Word.  People today are busier than ever so the courses taught at CMBI only last seven weeks and are not demanding concerning the homework to be done weekly.

Schedule:

Our schedule consists of 3 seven week sessions a year.  A certificate will be awarded after successfully completing all 15 courses.  If the courses are taken in succession, the certificate will take 5 years. 

Registration:

Registration takes place in August, January, April of each year.

            Sundays 11:45 a.m.– 12:15 p.m.

$10.00 per course/student purchases books separately (see below)

It is the student's responsibility to order the books specified for each course.  The books should be obtained PRIOR to the first day of class.  Some Book Store suggestions are:

CMBI Courses

 Sin/Salvation (Fall Session 2005)

This class will study the origin, nature and consequences of sin.  The answer to the sin problem is found in Jesus Christ.  The doctrine of salvation will be studied under the following headings – grace, election, redemption, propitiation, reconciliation, justification, sanctification, security, repentance, and faith.    TEXT: Basic Theology by Charles Ryrie/                                 Moody 1999/ ISBN: 0802427340

 

Christian Life and Witness (Winter Session 2006)

The student will be instructed concerning how to live the Christian life and share his/her faith with others.  John’s gospel will be the focal point of this class because it clearly demonstrates the deity of Jesus Christ.  TEXT: The  Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 1 by Wiersbe/Cook 2001/ ISBN:1564760308

 

The Covenants and Dispensationalism (Spring 06)

This course is designed to give the student an overview of the biblical covenants (Edenic, Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Palestinian, Davidic, and New Covenant).  This class will also instruct the student in a dispensational view of the Bible.

 

Principles of Biblical Interpretation (Fall 2006)

Bible students must learn how to study the Bible.  This class is designed to show students the importance of using F.I.R.E. (familiarity, interpretation, relationship, and employment) in their Bible study.  The final project of this class will consist of the student developing a Bible lesson based upon the information gleaned in this class.

 

The Book of Mark  (Winter Session 2007)

The life of Jesus will be examined through the lenses of Mark.  The student will be instructed concerning Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection as presented in this sixteen chaptered book.  TEXT: The  Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 1 by Wiersbe/Cook 2001/ ISBN:1564760308

 

The Book of Acts (Spring Session 2007)

Luke’s history of the early church will be studied.  This will include the birth of the church, the ministry of God’s Holy Spirit, and the missionary travels of Paul.  TEXT: The  Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 1 by Wiersbe/Cook 2001/ ISBN:1564760308

 

Bible Doctrine (Fall Session 2007)

Romans chapters 1 through 8 will be studied in order to understand the great doctrines of the faith.

 

First Corinthians (Winter 2008)

This class is designed to instruct the student concerning Paul’s ministry to this church.  Special attention will be given to defining carnality and spirituality, church discipline, spiritual gifts, and the resurrection of Jesus.  TEXT: The  Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 1 by Wiersbe/Cook 2001/ ISBN:1564760308

 

Ephesians (Spring 2008)

This class will consist of a verse by verse study of this book which deals with our riches in Christ.  The student will learn about their position in Christ as well as living a Christian life based upon that position. First and Second Thessalonians (Fall 2008)

These books have much to say about eschatology (the study of the last days).  Emphasis will be placed upon the rapture, the Antichrist, the tribulation, and the Second Coming of Jesus. TEXT: The  Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 2 by Wiersbe/Cook 2001/ ISBN: 1564760316

 

Hebrews  (Winter 2009)

A verse by verse study of this book will reveal the superior person and work of Jesus Christ.  Special attention will be paid to the warning passages.

 

First and Second Peter (Spring 2009)

A verse by verse study of these books will encourage the believer to be steadfast in the midst of persecution.  Also, special attention will focus upon the nature of false teachers and their destructive heresies.

 

First, Second, and Third John (Fall 2009)

The apostle of love writes to emphasize the need for the child of God concerning his basis of fellowship and the behavior of fellowship.  John gives insight to the child of God how to identify the false teacher from the sincere biblical instructor of truth.

 

Eschatology/Revelation I (Winter Session 2010)

This class will focus upon the first eleven chapters of the book of Revelation.  Special attention will be placed upon the vision of the resurrected and glorified Jesus, the seven churches of Asia Minor, the rapture, and the first half of the Tribulation.

 

Eschatology/Revelation II  (Spring Session 2010)
